About Rosalba Cifuentes
As a child in Chiapas, coffee was everywhere for Rosalba Cifuentes. Determined to improve the living conditions of coffee farmers in Bellavista, Rosalba bravely founded Mayan Harvest Coffee to process, export, and import coffee.
Although Chiapas produces huge amounts of coffee, the market is dominated by bigger actors who, being interested more in volume over quality, pour very little investment into the local community. By contrast, Rosalba has invested in better processing equipment, training producers in the details of meticulous harvest and post-harvest care, and training in quality control meausres and cupping. She has also started several local programs and events, especially for the women of Bellavista. Constantly innovating and focused on quality, Rosalba continues to break the glass ceiling in coffee.
Bella Vista is from Rosalba’s own family land, grown by her cousins Froilan, Eugenio, Otoniel, and Omar, who are Rosalba’s feet on the ground for Mayan Harvest.
