The LA Black Investors Club and Sip & Sonder are excited to announce a Gentrification Town Hall meeting at Sip & Sonder in Downtown Inglewood on June 21st.
It’s no secret that buzz around gentrification in Los Angeles has flooded recent news. In Inglewood specifically, the development of the new NFL stadium, rising home prices, and the changing demographic have been met with mixed responses. While some see gentrification as “revitalization,” others see it as posing a threat to a traditionally black space and community. The Town Hall meeting will provide a forum for local residents, businesses, and other community stakeholders to discuss and grapple with the intricacies and complications of gentrification in Inglewood, the inherent idea of displacement, how any benefits of gentrification can include residents that currently live there, and the role of policy and government in shaping the effects of this phenomenon.
